Best of Drugstore Makeup

Let’s talk drugstore makeup, shall we?

I mean- there’s so many options nowadays! I remember walking into Walgreens in college and feeling like I had about 5 options for foundation, blush, mascara, and a lip gloss to create my makeup kit. Fast forward to 2019 and goodness GRACIOUS has drugstore makeup stepped it up and people are so pleased… including this gal. I’m here for ya, sis! Let’s get started.

I say this over and over again, you can’t have great makeup if your base isn’t hydrated and prepped properly. You NEED a solid skincare routine before makeup is applied to the face or you will not get the results you want- trust me! You don’t need 1,000 things on your face either. But, these are my favorites for great skin prep before makeup:

Hydrate- Garnier® SKINACTIVE™ Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Makeup Remover & Cleanser- Before I apply makeup, I take a little cotton pad and wipe this all over my face. What does Micellar water do for your skin? It removes dead skin cells, any left over makeup from cleansing, and hydrates the skin. You ALWAYS want to hydrate before makeup. Makes a world of a difference prior to makeup.

Moisturizer- Weleda Skin Food Original Ultra-Rich Cream— This feels like luxury on the skin. There’s a “light” version of this cream which I love, too. Both are cruelty-free and for sensitive skin chicas. In fact, add a little bit to your heavier, matte, foundations and you have a lighter consistency to apply to the face— a homemade BB cream. You’re welcome.

Primer- L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer — If you know, you KNOW I love a luminous look, any day. In fact, using luminous, hydrating primers and adding a little bronzer and blush and SKIP the foundation is my kind of makeup routine. It has a beautiful sheer, luminous finish. Not greasy- just glowy. It’s that’s perfect.

Lips- A Kiss of Moisture Essential Lip Care- Nivea is the OG brand for glowing skin and moisturizers so obviously their lip balm was going to be amazing and doesn’t taste like crayons or flowers (no one else, just me?), it’s smooth and simple and perfect for a lipstick to smoothly apply.

Foundation- Maybelline Fit Me Dewy and Smooth Foundation- This foundation is a dream. It comes in both matte and dewy finishes which both can be found on my bathroom counter. For $8- this foundation is like a dupe for NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation. Yes- I said it. A dupe for a high-end foundation which means, run and get it girl.

Blush- Milani Baked Blush- Real talk. I’ve hit pan on this little blush about 10 times. I get it all the time because it leaves me feeling highlighted and brought to life. My favorites colors: Luminoso and Bella Bellini. One is more peach and the other more pink . They’re so finely milled and baked, that the finish is seriously so high-end feeling. Maybe I should do a dupes blog post, huh? Let me know in the comments if that’s something you’d like to see!

Mascara- L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Washable Mascara- It’s the easiest to wash off the lashes (winning) and it’s the perfect balance of thickness and length that a mascara wand has to offer the lashes.

Brows- NYX Professional Makeup Micro Brow Pencil- Having a precise brow pencil makes those lashes look natural and clean. If a pencil doesn’t give me enough color or it’s too waxy and easily smears- I’m not a fan! This pencil is perfect for those natural brows and the color selection for the pencils are great, too!

Lips- SUPERSTAY MATTE INK™ LIQUID LIPSTICK - Give me a lipstick that I can be applied ONCE all day and I am loyal fan. This lipstick is matte and a liquid lipstick however, find your color and add some gloss- BAM! Rock that look all day, sis! I promise it will not move all day.

Setting Spray- Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist for a more dewy look and added hydration and Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender Setting Spray for a matte finish to the makeup and lasting finish.

So, there it is. The list.

Heading over to Target, yet? I swear I live there and I’m okay with that fact. If you want more posts like this, leave a little comment below!
